If you are
a windows 8 user or have upgraded to it before some months, you might be facing
a problem of slow system. Your system performance might have degraded. The reason
for the same may be temporary files.
The temp or
the temporary files are created by Windows due incomplete or due to haphazardly
terminated Windows Session and get stored in the system hard drive. These
temporary files participate in reducing the system performance as they consume
much disk space.
So it is
time to clean up all that mess to make your computer faster and here is the steps
to do that.
In windows
the temporary files are stores with .tmp extension. Upon cleaning up those unnecessary temporary
files, you can not only increase disk space on your system hard drive but also improves
the performance of your system.
Steps to follow:
1. In the
Windows 8 start screen, move the cursor on the right bottom and click on the
search box.
2. Type Disk Cleanup in
the search box. From the results displayed in the left pane, click on the Free
and Disk Space by deleting Unnecessary Files.
3. Click on
drop down arrow and choose your drive. Normally chose C: and click on OK
button.
4. After scanning
is complete, you can see all the all the temporary files residing on that drive.
5. Choose temporary files to remove it. If you
want to remove some other file, you can choose them.
6. Click on
delete files.
Now disk clean-up
utility will clean all your temporary files from the system.
Delete Files from Temporary folder:
You can
also remove temporary files from your %temp% folder.
1. Firstly,
go to Desktop Icon on your Windows 8 Home Screen and click on it
2. Now,
press Windows Key + R to launch RUN dialog box and type in %temp% and
press enter.
3. You will
be redirected to the folder where all your temporary files lies.
4. Choose
all files and click delete from your keyboard.
5. You may
be asked for admin approval for the same.
6. Click
on continue button.
7. If for
any files you get an error that the “can’t delete the files” then click on
skip. This error comes as the temp file might be used by some application you
are running.
After
this all of your temporary file will get deleted and your disk space and system
performance will get increased.
