Cloud Printer: setup and detail using Google Cloud Print

Today’s world is moving towards cloud. We are saving everything in cloud day by day, starting from music, documents and many others. Today I am going to tell regarding Cloud printing its usages and how to make your printer cloud printer.

What is cloud printer?

A printer which resides in your local place, however if you can send data to it from anywhere can print on it, it will be treated as cloud printer.

Let me give example. Normally to print a document, the printer should be connected to the local system, however using cloud printers, you can send data to any printer which is placed anywhere, till you have permission to print in that system.

By this you can print data from anywhere around the globe or can even give access to anybody around the globe to print data in your local printer.

Benefits:

  1. You don’t have to send the document again and again to your local machine to print it.
  2. In business, you can give access to anybody for your printer. And whichever data, they want to send you a hard copy can send it to your printer and you can get the hard copy.
  3. You can connect all your devices — including your tablets and phones —to one particular printer and print straight from any one of the devices, from anywhere, as long as you’re connected to the Internet.

This can actually now be done with the help of Google Cloud Print (GCP), a cloud service by Google which connects your printer with multiple devices via cloud connect, so you can print from any of your devices. With GCP, you do not have to worry about installing a printer’s driver in your computer, which is a hassle by itself when it is not supported by particular operating systems or versions.

GCP works as a platform to submit and manage print jobs via Internet cloud, and printing jobs can be sent from multiple platforms, be it from a native computer, mobile app or web app. When a printing job is sent, GCP is responsible for sending these instructions to the designated printer, selected by the user.

How to set it up?

There are some steps you have to follow, and they are:

To start using GCP, you need to connect your Google account to the service. You first need to have Google installed in your computer, be it a Mac or PC (Windows XP users need to have Microsoft installed together).

1. After opening Google chrome, go to settings.

2. Click on “show advance settings”.

3. Click on add printer under Google cloud print.

4. Confirm your printer and register it.

5. After that you can lend I the page of manage printers.

You will be redirected to a page with instructions to add these printers, together with the links to the registration page. Simply follow the instruction, and enter the email address registered with the product.

6. After share your printer with anybody, to whom want to give access.

Printer is now connected to the GCP and you can start printing from anywhere as long as you are connected to your Google Account on Google Chrome. Be it your own printer or your friends’, printing is simple as long as the printer is already listed in your GCP account.

To start printing from your Chrome, Ctrl+P, The Command Or Select ‘Print’ From The Wrench Menu. A New Window Or ‘Tab’ Will Appear With Printing Details And A Preview. Click On The ‘Print’ Button And The Printing Job Is Sent To Be Executed.
