Someday ago we posted regarding Firefox 13.0.1 and its
features. Today we are going to tell about some risk factor associated
with Firefox 13.0.1 and how to solve
it.
Firefox 13.0.1 gives a new home screen and easy access to your most
often used sites through its new tab page feature, however that
convenient new speed dial-like new tab page presents a bit of a security risk.
As per reports this
thumbnails which accompany these links on the new tab page have risk of leaking
personal information.
As the browser takes regular screenshot and creates
thumbnails (even while you are browsing a secure site) and by doing so it
can expose the user's potential private data to other users who uses the
same computer.
Regarding this risk factor Mozilla also agreed to it and promised
to solved it in their
next release.
How can it create a risk?
If you are using your computer personally alone and no body uses it,
then there might not be any risk, however if you are using a shared computer,
in that case you can face issue.
How can it be prevented?
You have to follow below steps and disable the feature of Firefox to
take snapshot to be in safe zone. The steps for the same are:
- Type about:config in the address bar of Firefox browser.
- Search for browser.newtabpage.enabled and set it value to false.
- Now your browser can not take snapshot any more.
Hope Mozilla will fix this issue in their later release.
