Remotely Start the Torrent Download using the Dropbox

Do you share big files on Internet? Do you use Torrents? Do you download the files from Internet using torrents? Are you a torrent freak? Then I am going to tell you a great way in which you can directly start the torrent download in your machine, by saving the wait time.

Let me explain it more clearly. You are away from your system and you know that your system can download the torrents now in your home, however there is no more torrent is added in your system and you came to know about a good torrent outside somewhere. You want to download it, but for it you have to go to your home and start the torrent download.

It not always necessary. You can remotely start your torrent download in your machine from anywhere in the world, however some conditions those are mandatory for it.
  1. You should have bit torrent installed in your system and up and running.
  2. Be careful not to violate any legal policy before downloading any file.
  3. Dropbox or any cloud service (SkyDrive, Google docs) should be installed in your system and up and running.

So if everything is ready then how to do it?   It is easy, the steps are:
1, Start your torrent and navigate to Options -> Preferences. Shortcut Ctrl + P combination.

2. Select directories from left side panel.

3. On right side panel, tick mark the last option, automatically load .torrents from. Then, give the path of the directory of the Dropbox folder and choose a directory in it. I created a separate folder named torrents in my dropbox folder.

4. Next time if you copy in file to that directory from anywhere, your dropbox running in your system will automatically sync it and the torrent client will automatically star the download

Important work

It is not finished yet!!! The most important step is still waiting.
  • For the first time the torrent picks up the download it will prompt for a confirm message.
  • Don’t forget to click on “Don’t show this again” as  shown above. Otherwise the download will never start.

So next time login to dropbox, upload a torrent file, keep running your system in your home. Come back to home and your torrent will be downloaded. Just start enjoying the downloaded file.
